The media
often portrays this country as being divided down the middle:
polarized into two parties that have irreconcilably
different sets of values and political opinions. At
outragedmoderates.org, we're a little
skeptical of that analysis. While there are certainly divisive
issues, a majority of Americans basically agree on a
number of core political values.
Four things that America agrees on are
our need for open and honest government, our interest in
protecting the American people's health, our expectation that
the Commander-in-Chief use America's military forces
responsibly, and our unequivocal requirement that the Executive
Branch defend the U.S. Constitution.
The Bush administration has
failed mainstream America; its policies have gone against
the majority on all four of these
principles.
