DC gets rid of zone cab system

Thank God! Washington, DC Mayor Adrian Fenty has issued an executive order changing DC's antiquated zone taxi system. Under the old system, the arbitrary "zone" borders meant that traveling from part of one neighborhood to another could cost you as much as $15.00. This is a huge step forward for DC. Maybe next, Fenty can change the bizarre subway fare system (which charges riders different rates for each stop).
